PolyPhaser (RF) Surge protection devices are commonly used for radio and antenna installations where part or all of the equipment is outdoors. Also known as lightning surge protectors, lightning surge arrestors or surge suppressors, they allow the desired frequency to pass through the cable while suppressing a DC surge. In addition to protection from power surges caused by lightning, some PolyPhaser lightning surge arrestors also protect radios and other sensitive equipment from electromagnetic pulse (EMP) or high-altitude EMP (HEMP) related electrical changes.
PolyPhaser RF surge suppressors use gas discharge tubes or PolyPhaser’s patented spiral inductor surge protection technology, as well as hybrid or combined versions of these technologies.
PolyPhaser lightning surge protectors are available with male and female N, TNC, RTNC, and/or SMA connectors on the surge and protected sides in different combinations depending on the model. Lightning surge arrestors may be flange or bulkhead mounted.
PolyPhaser lightning surge suppressor models work with frequencies ranging from 100 MHz to 5 GHz, for 10 Watts to 2.5 Kilowatts.
